Areas of Practice

Pregnancy Discrimination

When you are pregnant, you don't have time to worry about your
job.  Morning sickness, exhaustion, prenatal checkups, decorating
your baby's nursery, and many other responsibilities cause enough
worry.  The last thing you need to worry about is your job.

Unfortunately, many women are treated differently at work after
they tell their boss they are pregnant.  Just when you need more
money to prepare for a new family member, many women become
victims of pregnancy discrimination.

Our office works to prevent this.  We offer
private consultations
advising you on how to tell your boss you are pregnant and
educating you on how you can protect your rights in the workplace
before there is a problem.   If you are unable to prevent
discrimination at work, we are savvy litigators who will work to
obtain the best remedy for you.  Please
contact us for more
information.

Age Discrimination

The law protects workers age 40 and over from age discrimination.
If your employer has terminated, demoted, or treated you differently
because of your age, you may need an attorney.  Contact us for
more information on what you can do to protect your rights.

Disability Discrimination

If you have a disability, your employer may be legally obligated to
accommodate your disability so that you can continue to work
effectively.  If your employer has refused to accommodate your
disability or is treating you differently because of your disability, we
can help.  Whether you have been terminated, forced to take leave,
or you are worried that your job is making your disability worse,
you should
contact our office to discuss possible legal remedies.

Gender Discrimination

Despite many advances in gender relations, discrimination against
women in the workplace is still prevalent.  If you are being treated
differently at work because of your gender, our office can help.
Dedicated to helping women achieve equality in the workplace, The
Law Offices of Sarah B. Schlehr can help you protect your rights.

Military Leave

The war in Iraq has caused many reservists in the Army, Navy,
Marines, National Guard, and other branches of the U.S. Military to
be called to active duty.  Unfortunately many of these patriotic men
and women who are fighting so hard for our country are later forced
to fight for their jobs.  If you have taken military leave and are
struggling to receive the promotion you deserve or to be reinstated in
your job, please contact our office.

Race and/or National Origin Discrimination

Have you been discriminated against because of your race or
ethnicity? You can successfully protect your rights by working with
our office.  Whether you have been fired, demoted, denied a
promotion, or suffered from another adverse employment action
because of your race or ethnicity, we can help.
